Indian businesses to invest on automobile components(VEDIO)



Lastnewsbd, 24 February: The “India-Bangladesh Auto Component Show” was organized by Bangladesh Automobile Assemblers and Manufacturers Association (BAAMA) and Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA) at Hotel Intercontinental in the capital.

Honorable State Minister for Industries of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, H.E. Mr. Kamal Ahmed Majumder, MP inaugurated the program by cutting the ribbon. Also present were Hon’ble Indian High Commissioner H.E. Mr. Vikram Kumar Doraiswamy, Executive Member of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority, Mr. Abhijit Chowdhury, President of India Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mr. Abdul Matlub Ahmad. The event was co-hosted by India Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IBCCI) and Indian High Commission, Dhaka.

The purpose of the fair is to attract foreign investment in auto components and encourage local production, which will bring the cost of car parts and servicing costs within the reach of buyers. Mr. Abdul Matlub Ahmad, (President of Bangladesh Automobile Assemblers and Manufacturers Association) gave a briefing on the occasion. “It’s important to move locally to produce automobile components locally and to make the country’s transport sector dynamic and now it is the best time to start,” he said.Also present on the occasion were Mr. Vinnie Mehta, Director General, Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA), honorary members of IBCCI and BAAMA, senior executives from Runner Group, Rangs Group and Ifar Autos Ltd.

Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA) organised the daylong summit in Association with Bangladesh Automobiles Assemblers and Manufacturers Association (BAAMA).

“From Bitac, we setup training centres across the country to develop skilled workfoce for the sector,” added Kamal.

High Commissioner of India Vikram Doraiswami said the automobile industry is driving force for the economy supporting the people and logistic transport.

“Some twenty Indian companies are participating in the show to learn the potential of Bangladesh automobile sector,” he said.The envoy hoped the political relationship of Bangladesh and India will transform to business relationship in next fifty years.

Matlub informed that Bangladesh Investment Development Authority and Automobile Assembling and Manufacturing Association (BAAMA) will host an international investment summit in Dhaka in October.

Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) executive member Avijit Chowdhury and ACMA Director General Vinnie Mehta were also present on the occasion.
