ICT Chairman Anwarul Haque no more

Lastnewsbd, 13th July, Dhaka: Justice Anwarul Haque, chairman of the International Crimes Tribunal, formed for the trial of crimes against humanity committed in 1971, died. He left the last breath at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) at 5:30 pm on Thursday (Innalilahi wa Inna Ilaihi Reziyon). He was 61 years old. Tribunal registrar Shahidul Islam Jhinuk confirmed the information.

Last Wednesday, Justice Anwarul Haque was admitted to BSMMU after getting him from Singapore. She was under treatment at the Intensive Care Center (ICU).

Shahidul Islam Jhinuk said he had been taken to Singapore for treatment earlier. After being recovering there, he was brought to the country. On the same day, he was admitted to BSMMU when the condition deteriorated. He then left the last breath today (Thursday).

Justice Anwarul Haque was taken several times to Singapore for better treatment. He had been treated at the Burdem Hospital for a week earlier this year. If there was no change in the situation, he was sent to Singapore on January 21.

On 15 September 2015, Justice Anwarul Haque was appointed as the chairman of the International Crimes Tribunal. On that day, the Tribunal-1 reconstituted and the Tribunal-2 issued a notification regarding the law ministry.
