Cyber criminals involved destroying freedom of media

Lastnewsbd, 3rd May, Dhaka: Information Minister Hasanul Haque Inu has said that cyber criminals and militants have been behind the loss of media freedom. He said this at a seminar on the occasion of ‘Free Media Day’ at the National Press Club’s VIP Lounge on Wednesday, 03 May. National Press Club president Shafiqur Rahman, Editor of Prothom Alo, Matiur Rahman, Editor of Samakal, Golam Sarwar, BFUG President Manzurul Ahsan Bulbul, PM’s Information Advisor Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury also spoke on the occasion. Information Minister said that the freedom of media is being lost due to cyber criminals, militants and militant supporters. That’s why the government is determined to protect the media from cyber crime and militant groups. Information Minister Hasanul Haque Inu has said that after the print journal, many television channels, radio, online newspapers have been launched in the country after the expansion of the country’s huge mass media and institutionalization is not a contraction of free media. These media organizations need a lot of institutionalization. And for this, there will be no broadcasting policy that will obstruct freedom. Information Minister Hasanul Haque Inu said, instead of media or journalists, information miscreants, provocative, false news presenters, conspirators, are under pressure and fear, the government is determined to protect the purity of media from these conspirators. None of the newspapers that have been closed so far have been stopped due to injuries to the religious sentiments, not because of anti-governments.

Information Minister Hasanul Haque Inu has said, as far as the media has been closed so far, why we will create a report of why it was stopped. All the newspapers that have been closed so far have violated the highest information technology law; have published false and provocative news. And if the government takes action according to the penal code for suppressing these irregularities, then it is not the interference of the media. If an editor violates the law, loses, loses the character, then the action is taken against the convict, sent to jail. It means not suppressing the editors, not suppressing the media. Even if we have made a mistake, if we think there is a need for correction, then we will say, we will correct. The minister said, it is necessary to give the freedom of journalism to the freedom of liberty, freedom of expression and broadcasting policy. Keeping the free freedom of free speech, we will create cyber crime laws and broadcast policies. It will be done through discussions with journalists to create, no one-on-one law will be made, “he said. He said there are 2800 newspapers in the country. Thousands of journalists work in these newspapers. We are not working to suppress them, but we are working on how to improve the freedom of journalism. So far, when we have been tortured to journalists while taking responsibility, we have taken measures immediately. I work myself with inquiries. Whether the state itself is always fairly unbiased and is not being treated unfairly on the journalists. It is immediately corrected if it is wrong.
