`Robber` killed in Barisal `gunfight`

A suspected robber was killed in a `gunfight` with police at Ruhitarpar area of the district`s Bakerganj upazila early Monday.

The deceased was identified as Khokon Khan, 32, son of Jobed Ali Khan of Moheshpur of the upazila.

Harun Or-Rashid, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bakerganj Police Station, confirmed the news.

He said, Police arrested Khokon from Maheshpur bazaar around 8:00pm on Sunday. His cohorts fired at law enforcers while they went to Ruhitarpar area in order to recover arms with Khokon. Policemen also retaliated for self defence, leaving him injured. He was rushed to Bakerganj Upazila Health Complex where attending doctors declared him dead.”

“Khokon was an accused of a robbery case,” he added.

Law enforcers also seized a shutter gun, a pipe gun and nine rounds of bullets from the spot, the OC said.
