For 2nd day candidates appleal to EC for nomination papers

Lastnewsbd, 9th December, Dhaka: Returning officers(ROs) on Sunday cancelled 786 nomination papers during scrutiny and announced 2,279 nomination papers legal. The candidates including former minister Mir Nasir, Reza Kibria, son of former finance minister Shah AMS Kibria, former MP Golam Maula Rony, Khondker Abu Ashfaq (Dhaka-1 constituency), Nabab Md Shamsul Huda (Chapainawabganj-1), Khorshed Milton (Bogura 7), Abdul Wahab (Jhenaidah 1), Tomijuddin (Dhaka 20), Md. Afsar Ali (Satkhira-2), Md. Akhtaruzzaman (Kishoreganj-2), Md Taiyab Ali (Chapainawabganj -2), Md. Abdul Khaleq (Madaripur 3), Mokarram Hossain (Dinajpur 2) filed appeal to EC against rejection of their nomination papers. The aspirants, whose nomination papers were rejected, can appeal with the EC against the ROs’ decisions by Wednesday. The EC will hold hearing on December 6, 7 and 8 to dispose of the appeals. Final day of withdrawal of candidacy has been fixed on December 9. The general election scheduled to be held on December 30. Candidates appleal to the Election Commission (EC) against cancellation of their nomination papers for the second day for the upcoming general election. Earliar on Monday, a total of 82 candidates appealed to the Election Commission (EC) against cancellation of their nomination papers.
