Six Bangladeshi names in IPL 2017
Lastnewsbd, 14th February, Dhaka: 351 cricketers including 122 capped Internationals will feature in the player auction. Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudullah Riyad, Sabbir Rahman, Anamul Haque, Taskin Ahmed and Mehedi Hasan Miraz are the Bangladeshi players whose names will be called. All them have a base price of 30 lakh Indian Rupees each. Tamim has played in the T20 leagues of New Zealand, West Indies, Sri Lanka and Pakistan. He was picked by Pune Warriors in 2012 and 2013, but did not play any match. He had a good Bangladesh Premier League 2016 season for Chittagong Vikings becoming the leading run-scorer of the tournament.
Mahmudullah will be once again in the IPL player auction. This time, franchises might look for an all-rounder who can bat as a finisher and bowl off-breaks to bring some breakthroughs. He was awarded Man of the Tournament in BPL 04. Sabbir is known as Bangladesh’s T20 specialist. The teams might search for a hard-hitting batsman and an electric fielder. Sabbir has those potentials; he could make a surprise in the auction. Anamul has been in great form in domestic leagues. He could be a handy opener for an IPL team if he is picked. Taskin bowls at great pace. Teams might want a bowler who can bowl fast at the opposition. He had a good BPL season last year for the Vikings. Miraz is a surprise package in this player auction. The 19-year old, who just finished his Under-19 career, started his International career for Bangladesh with a bang. He showed his all-round capabilities in the one-off India-Bangladesh Test in Hyderabad. A total of six Bangladeshi players have been named in the player auction of tenth edition of Vivo Indian Premier League T20, which will be held on 20th February in Bangalore.
